Wharton Product Management & Strategy

OK, I confess: the main reason I enrolled in this course was because of Wharton’s name recognition. After all, how many C-suite executives have graduated from or participated in Wharton programs? While I don’t aspire to the C-suite, I’m committed to continuous learning and wanted to study at a top-tier institution.

That’s why I had high hopes for Dr. Ulrich’s program. Unfortunately, those expectations weren’t met.

The course was unnecessarily stretched over six weeks, even though the material could have easily been delivered within five days. All content was prerecorded by Dr. Ulrich and hosted on a third-party platform that lacked the polish of platforms like LinkedIn Learning or Coursera. While we did have weekly live sessions, they were led by an assistant—not Dr. Ulrich himself.

We finally had a live Q&A with Dr. Ulrich in the final week, but by then, attendance was low and it felt like most students had already mentally checked out.

I did appreciate the entrepreneurial angle of the course assignments, but many of the examples felt dated. More current case studies would have made the material more relevant and impactful.

In the end, while I value the Wharton brand and the opportunity to participate, the course didn’t live up to the name behind it.
